It tells the story of the 1/5th (Territorial) Battalion of the Norfolk Regiment which included men from the King's estate at Sandringham House who were grouped in a 'Sandringham Company', following recruiting practices of the period which sometimes attempted to keep 'pals' of similar background together in the same unit. Commanded by Captain Frank Beck, the Sandringham estate manager, they are sent into action at Gallipoli in 1915. "All the King's Men" is a richly textured piece of television drama, and the performances of the cast are without exception of a very high class with some excellent cameos. This is the BBC at its very best. [Daily Telegraph] Admission: $3.00 [free to Film members] Supper available from 6.15 p.m. ($7.00), must be ordered in advance. GLAZUNOV: RAYMONDA Friday 7 August at 6.30 p.m. in the Robert Sibson Hall Raymonda was Petipa's last great ballet and is not often staged in full or with the original choreography, but 'this new production from La Scala is a reconstruction of the first performances in 1898 - a real journey back to the roots of classical ballet! The impressive sets and magnificent costumes for around 150 dancers are a veritable feast for the eyes. And the almost endless sequence of nimble variations is a choreographic spectacle that transports one back to 1898. No fewer than six solos of varied character and style for Raymonda make the title role one of the most demanding in the classical ballet repertoire.' Admission: $3.00 [free to Red Carpet members] Dinner available during the interval ($10.00), must be ordered in advance. ++++
