These ladies both have muscular dysrtophy. They are actually mother and daughter. The daughter is also mentally challenged. What I am appealling for is someone to be generous and perhaps help provide these two ladies with a medical aid. The Mom (Nita) needs a permanant nurse as she has great difficulty walking by herself and not to mention getting in and out the bath and getting out of bed. She has problems even getting up from the toilet, and getting dressed by herself is becoming difficult for her. Small everyday problems that we take for granted like combing her hair, not to mention washing and drying her hair are also difficult. Nita's whole family had this disease and she is the only surviving family member. If any good samaritan would like to help me get them comfortable on the medical side GOD WILL RICHLY BLESS YOU. Nita also smokes and I feel that is her only little priveledge why take that away from her too. Anyone who can donate her two cartons of cigarettes a month will also be greatly appreciated. Any help for them can be dropped off or collected by me. My contact cellphone number is 091333921. I pray that they will be loved by other good samaratins too and to make their lives little more comfy. Thank you to the Pensioners Fund, Bulawayo Help Network and to the Edith Duly Nursing Home for all that they do for this sad mother and daughter duo. The Landy is now fully kitted out, not just with essentials but some very nice luxuries too, a fridge (to keep the mojito's cold), full camping gear complete with shower and gas stove!! The sun visor now carries two pictures reminding me of the Zimbabwe that I love so much, I cannot wait to get home. As mentioned in my previous posting I will be starting in London and my finishing point will be Bulawayo in early January 2007. The 'Africa Challenge' is a perfect opportunity to raise money for one of Zimbabwe's leading senior schools to continue to give solid education to people who it is hoped will go on to effect change for the better in what is currently one of the poorest countries in the world. To this end all fund-raising will be donated to Falcon College who amongst others provide this invaluable education. I have set a target of raising US$50 thousand, as always I am ambitious, and any assistance with this would be gratefully appreciated. Please remember all monies raised go to the school none will be used for this trip. Africa and in particular Zimbabwe needs all the support it can get from all who love what it has given them and what it still represents. The wheel will turn in Zimbabwe as it has turned throughout history. When this beautiful country starts re-building there will be a surge of support for the process. We are all responsible for producing the mechanisms that will enable the inevitable resurgence. If anyone wishes to obtain further information about this and or make a donation, please contact me at john.laing@gs.com. JOHN LAING +++++++ SCS MEDICAL TRUST FUND CHRISTMAS EVE IN JUNE!
